(German saying, literal translation: “Hops and malt – may God preserve them”)

Our close proximity to the Benedictine Abbey adds a funny twist to this old turn of phrase, although nowadays beer is enjoyed as cool, smooth refreshment rather than a basic source nourishment.

Under the supervision of our brew master, AKZENT Brauerei Hotel Hirsch brews its own beer following tradition and in strict accordance to the German Purity Laws (Reinheitsgebot) from 1516. Where can you get better, fresher beer than from the inventory in your very own beer cellar? Naturally fresh with a light cloudiness, our house beers delight guests and change with the seasons:

• German-style Märzen
• Wheat beer
• Bavarian lager, or “Helles” in German 
• Bock beer
• Festival beer, or “Festbier” in German
• Dark beer (anniversary beer)

A look at the Sudhaus, a brewery tour, or a brew seminar in our miniature brewery make for a fun and interesting experience!  Simply make a reservation in advance and our brew master will be happy to give you fascinating insights into the art of brewing. The “Ulrichsklause” is the perfect framework for a professional tasting and is large enough for groups of 10 to 50 people.
